ULTRASOUND/ECHOCARDIOGRAM
Ultrasound is a diagnostic medical procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce visual images of organs, tissues and directional blood flow within the body. Many procedures performed at SSAH are done so with the use of ultrasound, including ultrasound-guided biopsies, fine needle aspirations and cystocentesis. This tool serves as a window to the interior of the body and allows our doctors to see 2D images of internal organs and structures. Ultrasound is particularly useful in diagnosing abdominal diseases, abdominal tumors and diseases of the heart.
When an ultrasound of the heart is performed it is called an Echocardiogram. Echocardiograms allow us to diagnose serious heart problems such as, Subaortic Stenosis (SAS), Pulmonic Stenosis (PS), Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), other cardiac myopathies, Septal Defects, and Valvular diseases.
Our doctors are professionally trained and educated to perform ultrasound techniques using the state-of- the-art Logic 5 Pro.
