DIGITAL RADIOLOGY

Our hospital has a state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine that produces excellent quality radiographs. Radiographs are fundamental in diagnosing certain medical and surgical problems. We perform thoracic, abdominal and spinal x-rays routinely, with pets either awake or anesthetized. We are also able to perform different types of contrast studies, such as upper gastrointestinal Barium series, IVP’s (Intravenous Pyelogram) to evaluate the kidneys and lower urinary tract, and myelograms to diagnose intervertebral disc or spinal disease, as well as radiographs for the diagnosis of elbow and hip dysplasia. All OFA radiographs are taken under general anesthesia for proper positioning, which is essential for evaluation of the hips.
